The traditional colours of Christmas are red and green.
Christmas decorations used to be put up on Christmas Eve, never before. According to a popular belief, having evergreen in the house before Christmas Eve would bring bad luck. This has now changed and most people would put up their decorations a few weeks before Christmas Day.
The most popular Christmas decorations are made of coloured paper and foil. Greenery, such as ivy and holly, is another popular choice.
Christmas decorations should be taken down before the end of th 12th day of Christmas, which is 5th January. It is believed that if you fail to do that, it would bring bad luck.
